McAfee recently announced that McAfee Deepfake Detector is preinstalled on the HP OmniBook Ultra Flip and HP OmniBook X Next-Gen AI PCs. With AI-generated deepfake videos rapidly spreading across the internet and social media, the line between reality and fabrication has never been blurrier and McAfee® Deepfake Detector alerts people in seconds if it detects AI-generated audio in a video.
To tackle the growing threat of AI-driven scams and misinformation, McAfee has collaborated with HP to bring cutting-edge deepfake detection technology to consumers on select HP Copilot+ PCs. Enhancing this effort, McAfee’s Smart AI Hub offers up-to-date information and educational content on AI, cybersecurity, deepfakes, and AI-powered scams and empowering consumers to join the fight against scammers.
McAfee’s automatic, AI-powered deepfake detection technology gives consumers an essential tool for assessing the authenticity of online videos with audio. It also empowers consumers to navigate their online lives confidently, leveraging the neural processing unit (NPU) to maximise on-device processing and offer a consumer-friendly combination of privacy and performance.

Enhanced performance, with privacy safeguards
With McAfee® Deepfake Detector now available on select HP Copilot+ PCs, consumers who opt in will be alerted within seconds if AI-altered audio is detected in videos, without the need for manual video uploads. Trained on hundreds of thousands of samples and counting and leveraging the power of the NPU on HP Copilot+ PCs, McAfee’s AI detection models perform the entire analysis directly on the PC, maximizing on-device processing to keep private user data off the cloud. McAfee does not collect or record a user’s audio in any way, and the user can turn audio detection on or off at any time.
McAfee Deepfake Detector enhances privacy and processing speed, and improves battery life, by leveraging the NPU for on-device analysis. This not only improves the user experience by allowing consumers to make informed decisions about the content they view but also protects them from cybercriminals manipulating audio within videos. The availability of HP’s Copilot+ PC features varies by device and market and it is worth noting that copilot in Windows requires Windows 11.
