New AMD Instinct MI400 Series GPUs for Frontier AI, Sovereign AI and HPC

New GPU portfolio includes HBM4 memory

Today at Advancing AI 2026, AMD launched AMD Instinct™ MI400 Series GPUs, the next generation of AMD data centre GPUs engineered to redefine AI and high-performance computing (HPC).

The family includes:

  • the AMD Instinct™ MI455X GPUs for frontier AI and AI factory deployments and
  • the AMD Instinct™ MI430X GPU for sovereign AI and HPC.

The MI400 series combines high-bandwidth HBM4 memory, advanced security and scalable system architectures to help organisations deploy, scale, and manage AI and HPC workloads with confidence.

A Solution to the Exponential Demands of AI

AI infrastructure is becoming increasingly specialised as organisations deploy AI across a broader range of environments.

The AMD Instinct MI400 series provides purpose-built solutions for both environments, giving customers the flexibility to deploy optimised AI and HPC infrastructure while maintaining the openness,
interoperability and software portability needed to scale future AI workloads.

Vamsi Boppana, senior vice president, AI, AMD

“The next generation of AI will span frontier AI, sovereign AI and scientific computing, and each requires infrastructure optimized for its unique demands. The AMD Instinct MI400 Series extends our AI portfolio with purpose-built solutions optimized for the full spectrum of AI and HPC deployments, built on an open software foundation that gives customers the flexibility to innovate at every scale.”

Key capabilities of the MI400 Series portfolio include:

Purpose-Built AI Infrastructure for the leap in next-gen AI demands

The AMD Instinct MI400 Series portfolio includes the AMD Helios™ rackscale solution, and it provides purpose-built solutions optimised for hyperscale AI factories, national infrastructure, research institutions and leadership-class HPC environments.

Built for high-volume inference

AMD Instinct MI455X GPUs deliver the compute, memory and networking performance required for high-volume inference, frontier-model training and fine-tuning. AMD Instinct MI430X GPUs deliver accuracy and throughput across converged AI and HPC workflows with up to 288 TFLOPS of hardware-based FP64 performance for scientific computing.

Across the portfolio, industry-leading HBM4 memory and high memory bandwidth help customers support larger models, possibly reduce infrastructure complexity and improve efficiency at scale.

Open Software Foundation

Powered by AMD ROCm™ software, the MI400 Series provides an open software foundation with programming models, compilers, libraries, runtimes and deployment tools for AI and HPC.

AMD’s commitment to open standards supports interoperability and long-term portability across software, system and networking choices, helping customers innovate without vendor lock-in.

Secure and Scalable

AMD Instinct MI400 Series GPUs incorporate advanced security capabilities, secure boot, encrypted GPU-to-GPU links and hardware-based protections to help safeguard sensitive AI and HPC workloads.
