Vertiv Doubles Global Manufacturing Capacity for Switchgear, Busway, and Integrated Modular Solutions to Meet Data Center Power Infrastructure Demand

Vertiv has unveiled plans to double its manufacturing capacity for switchgear, busway, and integrated modular solutions (IMS) by 2025. This strategic move is in response to the rising demand for data centre power infrastructure, particularly for AI and high-performance computing applications. The expansion has already created over 1,000 new production jobs and will continue across key global regions, enabling Vertiv to meet the accelerating customer demand for power management solutions and contribute to industry growth.

Since acquiring E&I Engineering and PowerBar Gulf’s switchgear, busway, and IMS business in November 2021, Vertiv has already increased its capacity by more than 100%. The company anticipates further doubling its capacity with expansions through the end of 2025. This strategic move allows Vertiv to support its current commitments and meet the accelerating customer demand for critical power infrastructure.

The expansion of manufacturing capacity has resulted in the addition of more than 1,000 new production jobs since the acquisition. Vertiv has achieved this by opening new facilities and adding production to existing facilities. The company’s global manufacturing footprint for switchgear, busbar, and modular power solutions has significantly expanded in the past two years.

To meet the growing demand, Vertiv is investing in capacity in key areas and locations worldwide. The expansion plans include increasing utilisation and footprint in South Carolina (United States), Mexico, Slovakia, United Arab Emirates, Ireland and Northern Ireland. These strategic investments will enable Vertiv to scale its operations and flexibly meet future demand for power management.

Vertiv CEO Giordano Albertazzi stated that the acquisition of the switchgear and busway business has allowed the company to deliver greater value and superior solutions for its customers. The surging growth of data traffic, coupled with rapid AI acceleration, has exceeded the company’s initial projections. To address this demand acceleration, Vertiv is investing in capacity and innovation across its offering portfolio, including power, thermal management, and prefabricated modular solutions.

Albertazzi emphasised that the expansion aligns with Vertiv’s strategy to enable industry growth and build a resilient supply chain. The company aims to support the acceleration of AI and other high-performance computing technologies by investing in additional capacity in all global regions.

In summary, Vertiv is doubling its global manufacturing capacity for switchgear, busway, and integrated modular solutions to meet the increasing demand for data center power infrastructure. The company has already increased its capacity by over 100% since acquiring E&I Engineering and PowerBar Gulf’s business in 2021. With further expansion plans underway, Vertiv aims to more than double its capacity in the next two years. This strategic move allows Vertiv to support its customers’ evolving needs and contribute to the growth of the industry.
